A six-run first inning sparked Straughn to an 11-4 victory over Andalusia Friday night in the second game of the Kirsten L. Dean softball tournament in Straughn.

 

The Lady Bulldogs went up 1-0 in the top of the first when Aalyiah Lawrence reached on an error to start the contest, and scored a few batters later on a wild pitch.

 

In the bottom of the first, the Lady Tigers did all their damage with two outs.

 

Brentley Armstrong drove in Jacie Williamson with a single to tie the game at 1-1.

 

Kristen Peavey gave the Lady Tigers the lead when she scored on an error.

 

Dee Gantt reached on an error that allowed Armstrong and Paige Taylor to score. Gantt also scored on the play after the Lady Bulldogs committed several errors on the play.

 

Another error by the Lady Bulldogs allowed Hayden Willis home to give the Lady Tigers a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the first.

 

Merikal McCaskill scored on an error by the Lady Tigers in the top of the second to bring the Lady Bulldogs back within four runs.

 

The Lady Tigers loaded the bases in the bottom of the second, and Taylor singled in Williamson from third to put the Lady Tigers up 7-2.

 

Peavey scored on an error by the Lady Bulldogs, and then Willis drove in Armstrong and Taylor to put the Lady Tigers up 10-2 in the second inning.

 

Mollie Stewart scored the Lady Tigers final run in the bottom of third on another error by the Lady Bulldogs.

 

In the top of the fifth inning, McCaskill drove in Emily Terry, and Cloe Mikel plated McCaskill for the final run of the contest.

 

“We just made too many errors,” Lady Bulldogs’ head coach Anthony Mikel said.
