Wain Yongkuma accounted for four goals as the Andalusia Bulldog soccer team downed area opponent Thomasville 6-3 Tuesday night in Thomasville.

Andalusia started off strong and jumped out to a 3-0 lead before THS got on the board. At halftime, the Bulldogs were up 4-1.

The Bulldogs added two more goals in the second half.

Along with Yongkuma, Kiki Wain and Shelbee Matthews scored one goal each.

It was Wain’s first goal of the season.

“We played well,” Bulldogs’ coach Tim Ramsden said. “Maybe not has physical as we have been playing, but I was happy with the effort.”

Ramsden said the Bulldogs do need to fix some things on defense.

“The goals we allowed were all off sloppy defense,” Ramsden said. “We are still making the same sloppy mistakes, and we need to work on that.”

The Bulldogs’ goals, on the other hand, were impressive Ramsden said.

“The quality of our goals was unbelievable,” Ramsden said. “Some very good shots at the goal, and we should have scored more.”

Over the weekend, the Bulldogs traveled to Demopolis, but fell to the Tigers, 5-1.

Anna Brady knocked in the Bulldogs’ goal, for her first goal this season.

“We gave up three very cheap goals to start,” Ramsden said. “In the second half, we played better, and Ben Jackson played very well in the second half.”

The Bulldogs will be at home tonight to face UMS-Wright at 6.

“This is a very important game,” Ramsden said. “It is pretty much a must-win game, and we need to beat them by more than they beat us (two goals). We need everyone to come out and support us in this important game.”
