Red Level picked up a 4-3 win Thursday night at home over Pleasant Home.

 

With the win, the Tigers won the season series two games to none. It also all but guarantees the Tigers a spot in the playoffs.

 

Jerran Williams started the night on the mound for the Tigers, and struck out the first batter before giving up a hit to Garrett Barton.

 

The next three Eagles reached on singles, and Sean Mitchell drove in Barton to put the Eagles up 1-0.

 

With one out and the bases juiced, Williams struck out the next batter, and got a ground ball out to end the Eagles’ first inning threat.

 

In the home half of the first, Hunter Carpenter led off with a single off.

 

Jack Dorman followed with a single, and then the next two Tigers were retired.

 

After a walk to the next batter, Dylan Jordan ripped a two-RBI double to put the Tigers up 2-1.

 

Ethan Jordan then reached with a two-RBI single to put the Tigers up 4-1.

 

In the top of the second, Mason Greathouse singled with one out, and moved to third on a single by Matt Barnes.

 

Barton cut the score in half with sacrifice that scored Greathouse from third.

 

The Tigers were held off the scoreboard in the bottom of the second.

 

With one out in the top of the third, Jacob Hartline and Reid Adams each drew walks, and then Chase Gunter singled to load the bases.

 

Williams got the next batter to strike out, but with two outs and the bases loaded Williams hit Barnes to make the score 4-3.

 

Williams escaped the jam by getting Barton to ground out to third baseman Jeffery Perdue.

 

Red Level threatened to pile on more runs in the bottom of the sixth after loading the bases with no outs, but Barton pitched himself out of the jam.

 

Gunter reached with a single in the top of the seventh with two outs, but Williams struck out the final batter to give the Tigers the victory.

 

With the loss, the Eagles fell to 4-5 on the season.

 

“We clawed our way back,” Eagles’ head coach Chris Mason said. “After giving up a four-spot in the first I told them to just keep climbing the ladder. We did that, but we made too many mental errors. We had some good individual efforts. Garret settled in and pitched well from the second inning on. Right now, we just aren’t a very good team on the base paths, and we are going to have to work like crazy to get better. Hats off to Red Level, they came out and did what they needed to win.”

 

Williams led the Tigers on the mound with seven innings, three runs and nine strikeouts.

 

“We are now halfway to our preseason goal of an area championship,” Tigers’ head coach Tony Ingram said. “We didn’t play great tonight, but we never quit. Jarren didn’t have his best stuff tonight, but the kids played great behind him. That was a good team we beat tonight. Coach Mason has done a great job with them. They are a hard-nosed gritty baseball team.”

 

With the win, the Tigers moved to 2-4 for the season.
