The Andalusia school board on Monday adopted the calendar for the 2015-16 calendar year that is very similar to the calendar being used in the current academic year.

Specific dates follow:

Aug. 3 – School starts for teachers.

Aug. 10 – School starts for students

Sept. 7 – Labor Day holiday

Sept. 28 – School dismisses at 1 p.m.

Nov. 11 – Veterans Day holiday

Nov. 23-27 – Thanksgiving holidays

Dec. 21 – Jan. 1 – Christmas holidays

Jan 18 – King/Lee Holiday

Feb. 15 – President’s Day holiday

Feb. 29 – School dismisses at 1 p.m.

March 28 – April 1 – Spring Break

May 19 – Last day for students

May 25 – Last day for teachers

The board also learned the Diversified General Contractors of Opp was the low bidder for replacing the roof on the main building of Andalusia High School. Superintendent Ted Watson said it is hoped the project will be completed before the 2015-16 school year begins.
