Andalusia’s Welders Supply has been acquired by a Memphis-based company, officials announced Monday.

nexAir, which is one of the largest distributors of atmospheric gases and welding supplies in the country, acquired the assets and operations of Welders Supply & Equipment Co.

Welders Supply distributed welding and medical equipment, gases and safety supplies.

“The team at Welders Supply has a long history of great customer service in central and south Alabama, and we look forward to carrying on that tradition in the years to come.” Said Kevin McEniry, CEO of nexAir. “We’re anxious to welcome our new team members and enhance product offerings for customers of both companies in this area.”

The transaction is expected to be completed by month’s end, with Welders Supply employees becoming nexAir employees on March 2.

Liz Hamilton, spokesperson for nexAir, said that all Welders Supply employees have been invited to join the nexAir team and keep their positions.

Current customers will still be able to purchase products they normally do, but with some additional items available.

“nexAir is offering to current Welders Supply customers all the same products and services, but with a heightened focus on safety and automation,” she said.

The acquisition expands nexAir’s footprint to further its reach into central and south Alabama, and grants new customers access to the company’s seasoned industry expertise, he said.
