The owner of Cedar Creek Merchandise is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a Monday night burglary.
Christa Moore, who owns the business, said she is offering the $500 reward.
“It is astounding being a business owner how brave and how bold criminals are getting in the city of Andalusia,” Moore said. “My business is located across the street from the City of Andalusia Fire Department, which is open 24 hours a day. It is located beside the Andalusia Police Department, which is open 24 hours a day. It is located one block from the square.”
Moore said someone threw a rock through a glass door Monday night and took merchandise from her building. She said jewelry, knives, and ammunition were stolen from the business.
Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson said Wednesday that it appeared a rock was used to gain entry into the building. The burglary was reported late Tuesday morning, he said, and is believed to have occurred some time between noon on Monday and 10 or 10:30 Tuesday morning.
Darby’s Medical Center Pharmacy, located on South Three Notch Street, was burglarized again last week, and burglars also broke the glass in the door there. It was the sixth time the pharmacy was burglarized in the space of 12 months.
“These criminals that keep breaking into local businesses will keep doing it until we all stand together and put a stop to the newfound crime in this town,” she said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Andalusia Police Department.
