Andalusia area residents will have an opportunity Friday to see if Rolling Stone is right when 7 Bridges performs at the Dixon Center on the campus of LBW Community College.

Rolling Stone said they were the best Eagles tribute band out there,” Covington Arts Council executive director Paula Harr said. “We’ve never really done anything like this with a tribute band.”

So far, the reaction has been great.

“We’ve had lots of interest from people who love the Eagles,” Harr said. “This is music you sing with your children in the car. It’s a family show, so you can bring your children and it will take you back to the days.”

The band includes Jason Manning as Glenn Frey, Keith Thoma as Don Henley, Bryan Graves as Randy Meisner/Timothy B. Schmit, Tony Haan, Jr. as the eccentric and unpredictable Joe Walsh, Blake Hall as guitar wizard Don Felder, and Vernon Roop as Joe Vitale, the often unsung hero of many Eagles studio albums and live performances.

“They are awesome musicians,” she said. “They don’t try to imitate – like an Elvis impersonator.”

The group uses no backing tracks or harmonizers, and re-creates the experience of an Eagles concert from the band’s most prolific period.

Advance tickets are available at Harold’s, The Star-News, and at Young’s Florist. Adult tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door, while student tickets are $10.

The Covington Arts Council will conclude its season on Mon., March 9, with the season’s largest show, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”

“Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” which is set in Oregon in 1850, is particularly known for itsunusual choreography, which makes dance numbers out of such mundane frontier pursuits as chopping wood and raising a barn. Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics.
