Connie Thomas knows the flea market business and she loves Opp.
A nurse by profession, she’s opened up Southern Charm Flea Market, in Lemar Plaza in Opp.
She has 23 vendors and says she’s at capacity.
“We stay pretty busy,” she said. “Some days are busier than others. Some are slow, but then you have the woo hoo days. Our afternoons are busier. Parents come in before they get their kids.”
Thomas said she began the business because of the demand.
“You can get things so much more reasonable at a flea market,” she said. “I’ve been buying and selling for 20 years.”
Her store features a wide array of items ranging from jewelry and appliances to clothing, books and collectibles and everything in between.
The business is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, though, she closes at 5:30 p.m., on Wednesday in order to make it to choir practice.
A ribbon cutting will be held Thursday at 10 a.m.
