This year’s Covington County Relay for Life event may be more than three months away, but organizers are on the hunt for teams.

Some 13 teams have signed up for this year’s event, said committee member Randi Bozeman.

Chairman Larry Brown said this year’s goal is to have 20-25 teams.

This year’s theme is “Lights. Camera. Cure,” he said.

“We’ll be having our next meeting on Jan. 20,” Brown said. “Teams are encouraged to participate in the meeting.”

This year’s goal is to raise $100,000 by the April 24 event.

“Last year, the 2014 Covington County Relay for Life was a huge success, and we just learned that 10 Covington County residents were helped this year by the funds that were collected,” he said.

Brown encouraged residents from all across the county to participate.

“This event is hosted in Andalusia, but this is the Covington County Relay for Life,” he said. “We want to reach out and get teams from Opp and Florala, and just all over the county. We want to reach out to areas that haven’t been touched.”

The Jan. 20 meeting will be held at Holiday Inn Express at 6 p.m.
