Sleet not expected to cause problems

A wintry weather mix may be in store for parts of the county through 2 p.m.
“You may see some sleet pellets through the remainder of the morning, but there will be no impacts from this event as both the surface temperature and ground are too warm,” EMA Director Susan Harris said. “As an area of precipitation spreads east through early afternoon, sleet pellets may briefly fall and mixed with rain.”
Harris said a winter weather advisory is in effect west of the area.
“For our count, the precipiation moved in too late to create any impacts,” she said. “The latest surface maps show surface temperatures well about the 32-degree mark for all of our area. Rain, sleet mix ends by 2 p.m. from the west.”
