Extreme caution should be taken around Five Run Branch Bridge while contractors extend pile encasements and place new riprap.
According to a release from the Alabama Department of Transportation, Carter’s Contracting Services will be performing pile encasements and riprap placement at the bridge. located on Hwy. 84 west of Sanford.
The work began Monday and District Engineer Bill Wofford said the construction should only last a few days.
“There will be no disruption to traffic,” Wofford said.
Wofford said that big storms and heavy rains have caused the pilings to become visible, and encasements will be added to cover what is exposed. He said riprap will also be added around the pilings.
Construction signs will be erected, and reduced speed limits will be in effect.
The ALDOT asks for motorists to use extreme caution and be conscious of the workers present when traveling through the construction zone.
