Today begins the New Year and the start of countless resolutions for many residents.
Some resolutions will be to spend more time with family, develop a healthier lifestyle, become more spiritual and share more with others.
Samuel Moore said his New Year’s resolution IS to be a better influence to other people.
Richard Moore said his son, Samuel, had recently visited the Exposure Youth Camp, which is a camp that practices spiritual renewal, growth and encouragement.
Richard said his goals for the New Year would be to spend more time with his family.
“I really want to go back to more family time,” Richard said. “That’s my best, realistic New Year’s resolution. You can never get enough family time.”
One local man said he had spent a lot of time thinking about his resolution.
“My New Year’s resolution will be just to concentrate on my inner being, my soul, and try to pay attention more to my family,” Rafeal Salter said. “I really want to concentrate more on my studies, and exercise a little more.”
Salter said he attends an online military school, Allied American University, and serves in the Army National Guard in the 13D as an artillery systems technician.
Another military service member, Tamisha Potts, said her New Year’s resolution will be to work on teaching her new puppy to stop biting.
Potts is from Andalusia, but is stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
The Rottweiler puppy, Bella, was a Christmas present to Potts from her father.
Others residents with a warm heart for animals were Savannah and Rachael Hall, twin sisters.
Savannah said she’s hoping to help her little Chihuahua, Chloe, who her family rescued recently.
“I’m hoping to help my little Chihuahua get better,” Savannah said.
Rachael said she really just wants to focus on training her puppy, Sassy.
