Ballard has career-high game

Sophomore Britini Ballard scored a career-high 10 points in Birmingham-Southern College’s win over Rhodes on Tues., Dec.7.
With three Panthers in double digits, including a career-high from sophomore Britini Ballard (Andalusia/Pleasant Home) and a career-high 12 rebounds from senior Martina Knotkova, the Birmingham-Southern women’s basketball team earned its second win of the season, defeating Rhodes, 67-48, in Bill Battle Coliseum. The Panthers move to 2-4 while Rhodes drops to 5-3 on the season.
They Lady Lynx kept it close in the opening minutes, going up on the Panthers three times, including a 11-10 lead with 13:08 on the clock. After that point however, BSC put together a 10-0 run to gain the advantage 20-11 and maintained the lead, taking a 35-23 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
BSC kept the lead throughout the second half of play, going up by as much as 21, twice, and never letting the margin dwindle below 11 before ultimately winning 67-48.
Junior Stacey Anthony led the Panthers with 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting including going 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, followed by Ballard with 10 points. Knotkova crashed the boards with her game-high 12 caroms, and freshman Reba Ross also posted a career-high six rebounds.
