Clutch shooting fueled the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles as they defeated the Highland Home Lady Flying Squadron 48-31 Tuesday night in Pleasant Home.

 

Jade Self got the Lady Eagles started off on the right foot when she buried a long 3-pointer early in the first to help get her team out to a 10-1 lead in the first period. Self had 5 total points in the first period.

 

In the second, Self once again led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 5 points. Self was feeling it from behind the arc, as she lit up the scoreboard with another 3-pointer. River Baldwin did great job down low getting open, and was able to put up 4 points. Cassidy Godwin, in two trips to the free throw line, shot 3-for-4 for the Lady Eagles. At halftime the Lady Eagles were in control 22-9.

 

The Lady Eagles came right back out in the third period with the same good shooting that they started the game with. As a team, in the third, the Lady Eagles shot 5-for-6 from the free throw line. Baldwin had 6 points, including going 2-for-2 from the line. The third period closed with the Lady Eagles up 35-20.

 

The Lady Eagles never slacked off on the Flying Squadron, and finished them off 48-31. Baldwin had added another 6 points to her total.

 

Baldwin led the Lady Eagles with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Self totaled 16 points for the Lady Eagles. Godwin went 6-for-9 from the free throw line.

 

“We have to start playing at a higher level, but the younger girls just aren’t there yet,” Lady Eagles head coach Jerry Davis said. “We are making too many unforced errors at this point in the season, and we need to do a better job of protecting the ball. We shot free throws well tonight, and this is a really good group of girls that want to do well. We just don’t have much experience right now.”
