The Andalusia Bulldogs were downed by the Georgiana Panthers 92-56 last night in Andalusia.

 

In the opening period, the Bulldogs had trouble with the sheer speed that Panthers played with. The Bulldogs couldn’t set up any kind of offense, as the Panthers were covering them tightly all night. Big 3-pointers kick started the Panthers, and gave them a 22-12 lead in the first period.

 

The Panthers came out in the second period and just dominated in every facet of the game. The Panthers created open shots with exceptional ball movement, and also created easy baskets following turnovers. When the Bulldogs had the ball it took great effort just to be able to attempt a shot. At halftime, the Panthers controlled the game 51-20.

 

The third period the Bulldogs came out with some intensity, and began to chip away at the Panthers lead. The Bulldogs came as close as 10 points, of the Panthers, but the tremendous first half lead was too much for the young Bulldogs to overcome. At the end of three, the Bulldogs trailed 66-46.

 

The fourth was a different story as the Panthers started burying every shot they attempted. Then two back-to-back dunks by the Panthers swung the momentum so heavily in the Panthers favor that the Bulldogs just couldn’t overcome it. The scoring outburst gave the Panthers a 92-56 win.

 

Devante Jackson led the Bulldogs with 21 points. Trevor Parker added 14 for the Bulldogs.

 

“We played better defense in the first than we have been playing, but there are a lot of things we need to work on,” Bulldogs’ head coach Richard Robertson said. “We are going to get better. One thing we have in our favor is that we have a lot of young guys, and they will continue to get better. We have about 35 kids in the program, so we will find someone who can do what we need done. The season isn’t over until Feb. so we are going to keep working. I was proud of the guys who did give effort tonight.”
