Santa’s made his list and is checking it twice, but there’s still time for little boys and girls who want to make sure the Jolly Ole Elf knows exactly what is wanted to send those letters in.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, brightly colored envelopes with handwritten messages make their way into the area’s local post offices.

Some have messages like “I’ve been good, Santa. I want an Elsa doll,” or “I want a Playstation or and X-Box.”

And each letter addressed to Santa that comes to the post office receives a reply.

Mike Kaolmetz, Andalusia’s postmaster, said as long as local children get their letter to the North Pole in the post office by Dec. 22, they’ll get a response back from Santa.

“We started getting them earlier this year,” he said. “We actually got our first one in July. They are kind of creeping in. We even have a specially-designed mailbox just for the letters, guaranteed to get them to the North Pole and back in no time.”

Parents can help children write their letter to Santa and have them seal it in an envelope and address it to Santa Claus, North Pole.
