The Andalusia Bulldogs football team was honored Monday night in Montgomery, by the Central Alabama Football Officials Association, for winning the small schools’ sportsmanship award.
The CAFOA’s sportsmanship awards are based on ratings by officials from regular season games. The ratings are compiled on a 100 point scale for 10 categories: head coach, assistants, players, fans, parking, security, dressing room, hospitality, chain crew and field.
The CAFOA awards has a large school category (5A to 7A) and a small school category (1A to 4A). Prattville High School won the the large school award, and Andalusia High School and Trinity Presbyterian School won the small school award.
Former Andalusia head coach Brian Seymore graciously accepted the honor on behalf of Andalusia High School. Seymore credited the leadership and support of principal Dr. Daniel Shakespeare, Athletic Director Richard Robertson, his assistant coaches and the impact their efforts had on the players, the school and the community.
Andalusia and Trinity finished the regular season in a dead heat across the 10 rating categories. This is the first time that has ever happened. It was the third consecutive year that Trinity has received this honor.
The CAFOA is the largest officials group, and provides officials for about 40 high schools across Central and South Alabama.
