Florala drops two to Boaz in Deep South/Sand Mountain Shootout

The Florala Wildcats’ varsity girls and boys basketball team fell to class 5A powerhouse Boaz Pirates in Friday night’s Deep South/Sand Mountain Shootout in Pleasant Home.

 

In the girls’ game the Lady Wildcats keep things interesting, but ultimately lost 47-21 to the Pirates. Shay Brooks led the Lady Wildcats with 9 points. The Lady Wildcats fall to 0-1 on the season.

 

The Wildcats dropped the boys’ game 51-16 against the Pirates. Ray Hall had an impressive night scoring 11 of the Wildcats’ 16 points. With the loss, the Wildcats move to 0-1.

 

“I thought we did a good job against a great-coached Boaz team,” Florala head coach Troy Stewart said. “This game helped us to see what we need to work on to get better this season.”

 

The Wildcats will be back in action tonight against the Red Level Tigers in Florala with the junior varsity tipping off at 4:30 p.m.
