‘Tis the season to give. That is the sentiment Sonja Godwin, director of Andalusia’s Adult Activity Center, is hoping many people in the area will implement as the AAC works to collect food and other items for senior citizens who are homebound during the holiday season.
Godwin said the AAC, a program operated by the City of Andalusia, currently has a list of 50-60 seniors, and is working diligently to provide bags full of food and other needed items for each person.
The following items are needed:
• Clorox wipes;
• Socks;
• Blankets or throws;
• Scarves/wraps;
• Tobaggans (hats);
• Kitchen towels;
• Non-perishable food items (canned or boxed);
• Pillows;
• Bath cloths; and
• Donations of money for purchasing these items.
“The needs of senior adults are often forgotten by their family and our community at Christmas,” Godwin said. “Please help us make a difference by donating to our homebound senior Christmas project.”
All donations can be delivered to the City of Andalusia Adult Activity Center or call 222-6891 for pick-up.
Deadline is Dec.11.
Those who wish for the donation to be tax-deductible may request a receipt.
