The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs are chomping at the bit to get the season started.

“We could have a really good team this year,” said coach Brad Garner. “We will have a lot of inexperience after graduating four starters from last year’s team.”

Garner said he expects Alexis and Aaliyah Lawrence to both step up and be leaders for the team. Alexis is a senior who started on occasion for the Lady Bulldogs last season. Aaliyah is sophomore, who will contribute a lot to this season’s team. Shay Thomas will also be key part of the Lady Bulldogs’ team.

“Those three girls have the best grasp of what we are doing right now, and it will be up to them to help push the other girls along,” Garner said.

The Lady Bulldogs will begin their season Sat., Nov. 15, against Boaz, in Florala, as part of the Deep South/Sand Mountain Shootout hosted by the Florala Wildcats.

“Area and area tournaments are what matter,” Garner said. “These games before christmas help to build experience and practice.”

“We are going to depend on a lot of young girls to step in and fill the shoes of the graduated players,” Garner said.

Tip-off for Saturday’s game will be at 1 p.m. with the varsity boys tipping-off immediately following the girls game.

“We are just looking forward to getting it started,” Garner said. “We have been in the gym for five weeks practicing, and we are ready to see where we stand.”
