A Crestview, Fla., man is behind bars and facing charges in multiple states after he allegedly stole two vehicles and multiple items from automobiles on Tuesday.
Chief Deputy David Anderson said deputies were called to County Road 4 around 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 4 to investigate reports of vehicles being burglarized.
Anderson said deputies received a call of a stolen vehicle reported out of Oklaloosa County, Fla., which was recovered on County Road 4 between Lockhart and Wing.
Anderson said that while investigators were processing the scene, Investigator Ted Motley received a call of another stolen vehicle being spotted in Wing near County Road 2.
When deputies arrived on the scene they found the stolen vehicle on County Road 2, which was occupied by Anthony Scott Brown, 28, of Crestview.
Anderson said while investigators talked to Brown, stolen property was located in plain view in the back of the pickup truck.
The suspect had allegedly broken into a residence on County Road 2, Anderson said.
Brown was arrested at the scene after attempting to leave, and was transported to the Covington County Jail, where he is being held without bond, pending further charges.
He is currently being held on charges of theft of property I, driving under the influence, criminal mischief III, receiving stolen property I, two counts of criminal trespass III, criminal littering, two counts of unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and theft of property III.
“There are more pending charges as the case is still under investigation,” Anderson said. “He also has charges pending in Oklaloosa County, Fla.”
