BRAYSTON LEE HOLDER
Brayston Lee Holder, the infant son of LeAnn and Jerry Holder, passed away Wed., April 20, 2011.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Keahey Funeral Home.
COL. (RET) ARTHUR MERIWETHER JONES II
USAF Col. (Ret.) Arthur Meriwether Jones II, 86, of Andalusia, died Tues., April 19, 2011, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., April 23, at 10:30 a.m. from the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Andalusia with the Rev. John Coleman officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Gulf Cemetery in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., with the Rev. Pat Dunn officiating. Full Air Force military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
The family will receive friends in the library of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church one hour prior to the services.
He is survived by his wife, Lisbeth “Bibba” Jones of Andalusia; one son, Arthur Howard Jones of San Diego, Calif.; three daughters, Nancy Gillette Jones of Kauai, Hawaii, Susan Jones Seltzer of Niceville, Fla., and Deborah Jones Coble of Pensacola, Fla.; one grandchild, Lindsay Kay Seltzeer; one stepdaughter, Lisbeth (Lewis) Jackson of Freeport, Fla.; two stepsons, Robert (Sally) Byrd of Durham, N.C., and James (Mary) Byrd of Daphne; six step-grandchildren, Stephen (Michelle) Byrd, Sarah Byrd, Elizabeth Byrd, Haas Byrd, Anne Jackson Turner and Gregory Wendol Jackson; and two step-great-grandchildren, Haas Turner and Ashley Byrd.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Jones, John Riddle, Jim Byrd, Bob Byrd, Greg Jackson and Haas Byrd.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
MARTHA TIPTON MILTZ
Martha Tipton Miltz, 88, passed away at Flescher’s Nursing Home in Fairview, N.C., on Nov. 12, 2009.
Mrs. Miltz died from complications due to Alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by her son, Glen McCandless; grandchildren, Morgan and Luke McCandless of Asheville, N.C.; and her son, Keith McCandless Jr. of San Francisco, Calif.
Mrs. Miltz was born in Florence, the daughter of Lorris Stewart Tipton and George Victor Tipton. She grew up on the family farm in Andalusia. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, and then served for two years in the U. S. Navy during World War II. She was a fashion model for many years in the New York City area.
Mrs. Miltz resided for nearly 30 years in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., while spending two or three months each year at her second home in Andalusia.
She did volunteer work at hospitals, enjoyed ballroom dancing and was active in the Toastmaster’s public speaking group. She loved cats and enjoyed cooking and gardening.
When Alzheimer’s disease progressed, she was moved to North Carolina to an assisted living facility and was cared for by her son and guardian, Glen McCandless, until her death.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Mon., April 25, 2011, at Stone Lake Cemetery.
Following the service, her ashes will be interred in the family plot.
