Ready, Set, Let’s Glow

Ready, Set, Glow 5k had a great turn out Friday night in Opp, with 165 total registered participants, and raised more than $12,000 for pancreatic cancer.
“We had a wonderful turnout for the event, and we are so grateful and humbled for the amount of support and volunteers we received,” said event coordinator Donna Youmans. ” Everything went really well, we had the Auburn game on as well as other entertainment.”
Volunteers and sponsors from LBWCC’s and AUM’s baseball teams, the Opp High School SGA and Pep club, as well as high school and middle school cheerleaders helped out with the event. Twenty-seven sponsors donated at least $250 each.
Fifteen people, who lost their battle with pancreatic cancer, were honored along with their family members by releasing balloons in their memory,
The overall winners for the runners were Adam McPherson, 31, from Ft. Walton finished with a time of 18:10, and Caitlin Pearce, 24, of Opp was the overall female winner with a time 23:04.
The overall winners for the walkers were: Larry Williamson; overall male walker winner, finished with a time of 41:24, and overall female walker, Lisa Gooden, finished with a time of 42:50. Williamson and Gooden are both from Opp.
