Youth football teams advance in playoffs

Straughn topped Andalusia 12-6 in overtime in peewee action during the semifinals of the Tri-County Playoffs on Saturday at Tigers Stadium.
The Bulldogs and Tigers were locked in a defensive battle throughout. At the end of regulation, the score was tied at 6-all.
Tigers quarterback Jake Wilson scrambled to the right on a play and made a dive at the goal line, where he was stopped short at the Andalusia 1.
Straughn’s Trey Strickland took over and carried the ball in on third down to come away with the win.
In OT, each team starts on the 10-yard line. Andalusia had the ball first, but fumbled to give the Tigers a chance at winning.
In other action, the Andy tinymites beat Straughn 12-0, and the Bulldogs termites won 25-12 over Greenville.
Straughn’s peewees, and Andalusia’s tinymites and termites advance to the Super Bowl, which will be held on Saturday at Channell-Lee Stadium in Opp.
The Tigers play Evergreen, while Andalusia’s teams face off against Greenville in tinymites and Evergreen in termites.
In other county playoff football action, Florala beat McKenzie 24-6, and Georgiana beat Pleasant Home 28-6 in tineymies; Georgiana beat PHS 22-0, and McKenzie beat Kinston 28-0 in termites; and Pleasant Home beat Red Level 28-6, and Florala beat McKenzie 12-6 in peewees in the first round.
The winners advance to the second round of the playoffs this weekend in Pleasant Home.
Kinston kicks off against Florala, and Georgiana plays Red Level in tinymites; Florala plays Georgiana, and McKenzie goes against Red Level in termites; and Pleasant Home plays Georgiana, and Kinston plays Florala in peewees.
Games start at 9 a.m.
