Florala Mayor Robert Williamson told council members Monday he was making an exception to a personal rule.

“I stay out of the police department and let Sonny (Chief Sonny Bedsole) do his job. “But if we find someone tearing up the wetlands park, I want Sonny to make an example of them. I don’t care who their mama or daddy are.”

A grant recently provided lights to be installed in the park, and the council on Monday approved the purchase of cameras, as weel.

“Unfortunately, there has been a history of when we put nice things in place, not-so-nice people do not-so-nice things to those nice things,” he said. “I think the cameras can be used for patrolling that.”
