BESSIE BRADLEY CARTHON
Mrs. Bessie Bradley Carthon, 73, of Andalusia, made her transition from Earth to glory on Wed., Oct. 1, 2014.
A memorial service in celebration of her life and legacy, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tues., Oct. 14, at Kirk’s Funeral Chapel.
She was a well-known educator with the Covington County School System, having graduated from CCTS in 1959, Alabama State University in 1964 and Troy University in 1978.
During her career she became a certified guidance counselor and a certified psychometrist.
Mrs. Carthon had a special bond with her students and with her classroom and psychometric testing experience. She went on to become the truant officer for the Covington County Schools, later becoming the driving force behind the Migrant Students Program.
Mrs. Carthon was preceded in death by her parents, A.C. and Lovilla Luckie Bradley; her brother, Joseph Calvin Bradley; and her daughter, Angelia Maria Powell.
She was divorced.
She leaves to mourn her passing one grandson, Corey Thomas (Sukiedia); two great-grandsons, Jayden and Jakori Thomas of Texas; and a host of special family members and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish are asked to make a charitable donation in her memory to the historically black college or university, or a charity of their choosing.

BROWDER
Jule Bradley Browder, 89, a resident of Andalusia, died Thurs., Oct. 9, 2014.
Graveside services will be held Mon., Oct. 13, at 12:30 p.m. in Hills Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Doc Kirby officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
She is survived by her children, Julanne B. Veasey of Orion and James A. Browder (Donna K.) of Andalusia; grandchildren, Tiffany K. Browder (Robert Lawrence), Bradley W. Browder, Jamie Rose Browder, James Veasey and Dawn Veasey; and one great-granddaughter, Rhyan Morris.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rainer Birk for his wonderful care and service.
