In an effort to combat prescription pill abuse, Covington County’s Drug Task Force will once again host a Take Back Prescription Pill event.
This year, the event will be held Tues., Oct. 7, in conjunction with the National Night Out program.
According to a release from the Drug Task Force, the program is set up so that anyone with unused medications can bring those pills to the event and they can be properly disposed.
No questions will be asked.
“We just want to make sure they are disposed of and do not end up contaminating our water systems or end up on the streets in the hands of our youth,” the release said. “
The event will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., in the 100 block of Church Street.
The first take back event was held in October 2010.
At that event more than 80 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter pill were brought in.
At last October’s event, 85.5 pounds of pills were collected.
