Students claim 1st places at Kumite

Eight Andalusia Isshinryu Karate students competed in the USYKA Kumite Challenge Karate tournament in Montgomery on Sept. 13.
The tournament was a Kumite (fighting) only tournament, where competitors could compete in point and or full contact fighting divisions for their age and belt rank.
Students brought home six first place finishes.
• Allen Butler — first place in youth black belt point fighting;
• Dalton Spears — second place in brown belt point fighting;
• Landon Caldwell — first place in green belt point fighting;
• Kila Owens — first place in green belt point fighting, and third place in girls intermediate full contact fighting;
• Konner Owens — first place in yellow belt point fighting, and third place in youth brown belt full contact fighting;
• Nathanael Walker — first place in youth brown belt full contact fighting, second place in green belt point fighting;
• Abigail Walker — fourth place in girls intermediate full contact fighting, and second place in green belt point fighting; and,
• Rexanne Butler — first place in girls black belt point fighting.
Andalusia Isshinryu Karate offers instruction in traditional Okinawan Karate for the entire family.
