APD to hold ‘Night Out’

The Andalusia Police Department and Andalusia Fire Department are partnering with other law enforcement agencies and local organizations to hold a National Night Out event on Tues., Oct. 7.
Police Chief Paul Hudson told the city council Tuesday the event is designed to raise awareness of safety issues and to connect law enforcement officers to the community.
One block of Church Street will be closed for the event to connect the police and fire departments. A karaoke contest, dunk tank and inflatables are planned, and kids will receive glow-in-the-dark bracelets and necklaces.
“This is an opportunity for area residents to meet t heir local fist responders, and receive valuable information to assist in keeping their homes, property and families safe.
Other agencies represented will be the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force; Covington Co. Sheriff’s Office;
River Falls Police Department; Covington Co. DA’s Office; Covington Co. E911; and Covington County EMA.
The event is set for 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the 100 block of Church Street.
