Straughn bumped up to No. 3 in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association football poll, which was released today.

The Tigers defeated rival Opp 46-28 last week to start their new season in Class 4A.

Leeds and UMS-Wright are ranked Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, with Saks and Thomasville rounding out the top five.

Hamilton, Dadeville and Haleyville were ranked 6-8, and Munford and Oneonta are both tied at No. 9.

Andalusia, which lost 47-17 to UMS-Wright, received eight votes and wasn’t ranked in the poll.

Opp received one vote in Class 3A.
