Angie and Wayne Gatlin have been cooking some of their favorite foods for Covington County residents for five years at their restaurant, Fried Green Tomatoes, just outside of Opp. Now, they have expanded into the heart of downtown Opp with their newest eatery, Nattie Belles Eating Place.
“We’ve been open for about four months now,” Angie Gatlin said Friday during a grand-opening event for the new restaurant. “We’ve been at Fried Green Tomatoes for five years now, and I just really wanted something in town.”
Named for the couple’s granddaughters, Addison Belle and Nateleigh Brown, Nattie Belles is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., as well as from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at their location on West Covington Avenue.
So what can patrons expect of Opp’s newest place to dine out? Angie says the answer is a little bit of everything.
With appetizer favorites like jalapeño poppers and fried dill pickles, burger and sandwich combos, hamburger steaks, fish fillets, hot wings (as well as hog wings), pork chops and salads, Angie says there is plenty to try in a fun, family-friendly environment.
Daily specials and Blue Belle ice cream are also on the menu.
