If you live in Andalusia or Opp, you might want to keep you ears open for a familiar voice on the radio as the first single from the newly formed boy band Far Young has hit the airways.
The trio of young singers making up Far Young includes Opp native and Andalusia resident Christian Wossilek. The group’s single, “Hashtag Everything,” was released this week and is the first offering from the band that was formed by Tim Coons, former producer of The Backstreet Boys. Wossilek is joined in the group by Eben Franckewitz and Jackson Owens.
“Eben, Jackson and Christian are an amazingly talented group of singers who perform for the love of the music,” Coons said of the group. “They have the potential to rival the Backstreet Boys, whose combined album and tour ticket sales have made them arguably the ‘biggest’ boy band to date.”
Wossilek, 14, became involved with music at an early age, beginning to play the drums at age three. By age 10, he had added the piano, guitar and bass to his musical arsenal. At 12, he began playing ukulele.
Wossilek was officially chosen for the band in March after he turned down an opportunity to appear on the show, “The X Factor,” last year.
Wossilek’s mother, Kay, said at the time that her son accomplished a huge life goal by joining Far Young.
“He didn’t start singing until he was 12,” she said. “This has been a whirlwind. As a mom, I’ve never been so excited about anything in my whole life. He’s living his dream.”
“Hashtag Everything” is available now on iTunes.
