Andy 10Us beat Covington County; Opp routs East Brewton

Andalusia’s 10-and-under All-Stars scored nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie and went on to beat Covington County 13-7 in the first round of the District 8 Cal Ripken Baseball Tournament tonight in Opp.
The Bulldogs and county team were neck and neck through the first three innings.
Andalusia drew blood first in the opening inning, and CC followed with a run in the top of the second for the game’s first tie.
CC tied it at 3-all in the top of the fourth inning and held a much-improved Andalusia bunch in the bottom of the frame.
By the time the fifth inning ended, Andalusia led 12-3.
Griffin Kennedy went 2-for-3 with three runs; Terrance Salter, Tucker Glenn, Noah Whiddon and Joseph Turner went 2-for-4 each to lead Andalusia.
Covington County’s Josh Hawkins, Jared Hawkins, Parker Spears and Landon Kelly had two hits each.
In the late game tonight, Opp routed East Brewton 15-2.
Action continues tomorrow night at the Opp Sports Complex, where Evergreen and Brewton have their first-round games against Andalusia and Opp, respectively.
