County 8U All-Stars win

Seven Covington County 8A Cal Ripken All-Stars tallied three hits apiece as the local team defeated East Brewton 20-7 in four innings Friday night.
The All-Sars scored seven runs in the first inning, but EB came back to cut it to three with four runs of its own in the bottom of the frame.
Like Thursday night, CC put together a strong inning with nine runs in the second to pull away completely.
CC added four runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Grant Barnes, Nathan Fowler, Taylor Sikes, Javen Poindexter, Kaden Wiggins, Ridge Wilson and Elie Guilford had three hits each.
Parker Adams and Ty Clark put together two hits each for CC.
East Brewton’s Ellis Kelly, Easton Grace, Collin Nelson, Jon Jon McCants and Jakasi Paul had two hits each.
With last night’s victory, Covington County will face Brewton tonight at 6 at Johnson Park in the winner’s bracket finals.
The winner advances to the district tournament championship at 6 p.m. tomorrow.
In other baseball action, Brewton defeated Evergreen 17-9.
Brewton scored five runs each in the first and second; two runs each in the third, fifth and sixth innings; and one run in the fourth.
Sam Kelley scored four runs to lead Brewton; Jim Daugherty scored three runs; and JW Sessions, Thomas Lowery and Craig Blevins scored two runs each.
For Evergreen, J. Bradley scored three runs.
