Inez Riley Moss, 91, of Roswell, was born on July 10, 1932, to John Daniel Riley and Inez Preston Riley of Andalusia. Inez died June 9, 2014, after a brief illness.

She was an accomplished young woman and demonstrated an early sense of adventure and a love of life-long learning. She served as a meteorologist in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII, and was stationed at California’s Camp Pendleton. After the war, she married Paul Grady Moss Jr., a captain in the Marine Corp who served in Iwo Jima, Guam and Gaudalcanal. The couple moved to the Atlanta area where they became active members of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church.

Moss was a devoted Sunday school teacher and loved studying for her lessons. She was an active member of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU). Moss was a pioneer in mainstreaming visually-impaired and hearing-impaired students into Atlanta Public Schools in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1972, she embarked upon a 30-year career in real estate, qualifying for the Million Dollar Round Table Award multiple years. She treasured her time with both Northside Realty and later with Buckhead Brokers, because of the many friends she developed as clients and colleagues.

In 1975, she and Paul moved to Roswell where they became involved in the Roswell Historical Society. She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Bridge Club and the Alabama Club. She received the United Daughters of the Confederacy Cross of Military Service. Inez and Paul became active members of the First Baptist Church of Roswell, where she again taught Sunday school.
