A woman turning herself into the Covington County Jail Tuesday following a drug conviction found herself facing more charges after officers discovered she had gone to great lengths to smuggle drugs into the facility using some particularly unsanitary methods.

According to Drug Task Force Agent Greg Jackson, Randi Monique Jay was in the process of turning herself in to authorities at the jail when officers received a tip that she was attempting to bring narcotics into the facility hidden in her vaginal cavity.

“Jay was turning herself in on a drug court order and DTF agents received information that she was attempting to bring narcotics into the jail,” Jackson said. “We called and noticed the female corrections officer on duty and, during a search of her person, she was found to have several Percocet pills, which is a controlled substance in the state of Alabama.”

Jackson commended the officers on duty at the jail, adding Jay’s methods were uncommon, but not unheard of.

“They just do a great job over there at the jail with the kinds of things they have to deal with,” Jackson said.

He added Jay was charged with promoting prison contraband II, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in relation to the incident.
