Steam will be rising from freshly cooked crawfish and good smells will be wafting from prime-cooked barbecue at the third annual Low Country Boil tomorrow night at Kirkpatrick Park.

The boil, which is presented by the Andalusia Football Foundation, has grown each year its been held, foundation president Alan Williamson said.

“We’re actually ordering more crawfish and more barbecue because we want to make sure we can accommodate,” Williamson said. “We’re actually selling more tickets this year, and we’ve actually upped it by 50 tickets.”

Williamson said tickets are now available at Covington Casket and Jones Veterinary. Additionally, the tickets, which are $20 each, will be sold at the gate.

“We want to urge people to get them in advance because we don’t know how many will be available at the gate,” he said. “If we have 20 left, then we’ll sell them.”

The money raised from the boil will go to help purchase a groomer for the high school’s indoor athletic facility. The foundation looked and tested a groomer last year.

In addition to buying a groomer, the foundation awarded a $1,000 academic scholarship to AHS senior Michael McCalman, who plans on attending Auburn University in the fall.

The price of your ticket will allow for all-you-can-eat crawfish and barbecue at the boil, which will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
