A Rose Hill resident is facing charges in two counts of electronically soliciting a minor and transmitting obscene material after law enforcement officers from Covington and Henry counties arrested him Friday.
Trenton Isaac Driver, 24, was taken into custody at his home by deputies with the Covington County Sheriff’s Department and the Henry County Sheriff’s Department-Abbeville Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit, and later bonded out of jail in both counties, including a $600,000 bond in Covington.
CCSO Investigator Wesley Snodgrass said Driver was arrested after he transmitted obscene photos and solicited sex from a person he believed to be a 12-year-old female.
“We were contacted by Henry County last week,” Snodgrass said. “They were working on a series of Internet crimes that included Mr. Driver. We assisted them in obtaining a search warrant for Mr. Driver’s electronic equipment and cell phone.”
Snodgrass said the investigation led to identical charges of electronic solicitation of a minor and transmitting obscene materials in both counties.
“We also assisted in the second part of the operation, where, while in Covington County, he transmitted an obscene photo and solicited sex.”
Snodgrass said Driver was taken to the Henry County jail, where he bonded out before being transported to the Covington County Jail in Andalusia, where he also bonded out.
