Officials with Andalusia Fire Department confirmed an accident Wednesday morning at Shaw Industries, Plant No. 65, left one person seriously injured.

Russell McGlamory said AFD units responded to the call of a woman trapped in a machine at 10:01 a.m.

“It was a female and she got her arm caught in some type of equipment,” McGlamory said. “I say some type of equipment because, by the time we got there, Advanced EMS had responded to the scene and had her arm out.”

McGlamory said he was unsure of the extent of the woman’s injury, but added she was still “lying on the floor,” when AFD arrived on the scene.

“She was stabilized and taken to Andalusia Regional Hospital and then taken by LifeFlight to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola,” he said.

Shaw officials did not immediately comment.
