LBWCC made sure it ended its baseball season on a good note.

The Saints swept Enterprise State 6-3, 3-0 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Crum Foshee Field on a day where the sophomores wore their home grays one last time.

Before the first pitch was thrown, alumni from LBWCC’s 2004 and 2009 teams were recognized during the Alumni Day festivities.

Sophomore Brady Eldridge pitched a gem in game two as he went a complete game while scattering four hits in the shutout. Eldridge struck out six and walked one.

The game was scoreless until the sixth, where the Saints scored its three runs.

What helped LBWCC gain momentum to score its needed runs came in the top of the sixth inning.

On the last out, catcher Mason Rogers, a freshman, made a catch behind the plate while running into the mesh right next to the home-field dugout.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Brandon Pugh led off with a single and advanced to second on a steal. Blake Grill then hit an RBI single to score Pugh for a 1-0 lead.

Conner Smith then hit an RBI single to score Grill and made it to second base on the throw and the Saints led 2-0.

For the final run, Rogers hit into an RBI ground out at third base.

There were a few instances where LBWCC head baseball coach Steve Helms visited the mound to talk with Eldridge.

In each of those visits, Helms allowed Eldridge to stay in despite threats on base.

With two on and two outs in the top of the seventh, LBWCC freshman Michael Tedford made a leaping grab on a line drive to end the game and give the Saints a 2-1 series win over the Boll Weevils.

Grill went 2-for-3; and Trey Matherson went 2-for-2 to lead the Saints.

The Saints scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh and held on late in the first-game win.

LBWCC sophomore Chance Calloway struck out two and allowed one earned run on eight hits in 7.2 innings for the win. Jed Carter pitched the last 1.1 innings to earn the save.

Pugh and Monterio May went 2-for-4 each to lead the Saints.

LBWCC finished its season 22-24.
