Reisnour to play on All-Star squad in July

Her personality is infectious.

Her smile will make anybody feel better.

Her inspiration lifts teammates.

These traits are only but a few that Opp junior catcher Tori Reisnour will bring to the softball field this July as a member of the South All-Star team during the 2014 All-Star Sports Week.

The sports week brings together the top junior student-athletes from across the state during the week of July 21-25 to play games in the major championship sports.

The softball game will be held July 22 at Lagoon Park.

Reisnour said it’s a big “honor” for her to be selected to play on the team.

“I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t know anything about it until this year,” Reisnour said. “(OHS softball) Coach (Jimmy) Reeves told me about it and that he was nominating me.”

Reeves actually nominated several players from his team, but Reisnour stood out.

Typically during games, Reisnour can be heard cheering for her teammates and putting smiles on their faces the only way she knows how — through her attitude.

“I do try to motivate and stay positive during the game,” she said. “I love to encourage my teammates, and I have a big heart for softball. It’s definitely a big part of my life.”

For those who are wondering where Reisnour gets her personality from, the junior said it just came “naturally.”

“I know that a smile says 1,000 words, and that a smile can heal anything, so can laughter,” she said. “Whenever I really realized that, I just made it a point to smile at everyone I see.”

One of the highlights for these junior athletes during the week is meeting other athletes from across the state.

Reisnour said she loves meeting other people, especially if they can help her game.

The Lady Bobcats have a pretty important game tomorrow night at home against Straughn in Class 3A, Area 2 action. This game will determine who will host the area tournament next week.

Reisnour said the season has been up and down, and that the team is meshing at the right time.

The daughter of Robyn Reisnour of Opp, also said she appreciates the fans because there wouldn’t be softball without them.

“It’s an honor and I appreciate everyone,” Reisnour said. “I thank everyone for the support I’ve had from Opp, and just the fans in general for softball. They are the ones who give us the support, along with the booster club.”
