All good things must come to an end.

That was the case for Florala on Saturday as the seventh-ranked Wildcats fell 9-4, 10-1 to Brantley in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Class 1A state baseball playoffs.

“We lost to what I consider is a pretty good baseball team,” FHS coach Bubba Nall said. “I’m proud of our kids for getting where we are right now with winning the area championship two years in a row and being able to host a playoff game.”

Nall said the boys put the ball in play well.

“I don’t think we had but three strikeouts in the two ball games,” he said. “We didn’t kick the ball around. They hit the ball at times when they needed to, and we didn’t.”

Nall said he appreciates the effort each player gave on the field along with the community, school and administration’s support throughout the season.

“Nest year, hopefully, we can go a little bit further,” he said. “Brantley beat us fair and square. I felt like we played pretty good defense. We had a good crowd, and we want to wish Brantley all the best.

“All good things must come to an end,” he said.

The Wildcats finished their season 13-4.

In other Class 1A action, Red Level fell 12-0, 8-1 to Kinston.

The Tigers finished 5-20.
