Bulldogs split; Opp sweeps; 1As fall

Andalusia split with Clarke County and Opp swept Bayside Academy on Saturday during the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s baseball playoffs.
The Bulldogs got off to a good start with a 5-1 game one victory over CCHS, but ended up falling 8-2 in the second game to force a game-three decider tomorrow night at 5.
AHS needs to win tomorrow night’s game to advance to the second round. The winner of tonight’s game faces UMS-Wright in the second round. UMS demolished Hillcrest-Evergreen 20-0, 27-1 in the opening round.
The Bobcats beat the Admirals 8-4, 5-0 in the two-game sweep.
OHS advances to its third-straight, second-round appearance in the playoffs, where it will face the winner of the T.R. Miller-Excel series, which will be decided tomorrow.
In Class 1A action, Florala fell 9-4, 10-1 to Brantley; and Red Level lost 12-0, 8-1 to Kinston, ending their seasons.
The seventh-ranked Wildcats finished 13-4, while the Tigers wrapped up at 5-20.
