ROBERT IVEY

Robert Earl Ivey (RE) passed away Sat., March 26, 2014, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.

He was born and reared in Evergreen. He graduated from Evergreen High School in 1947, where he had excelled in football, basketball, baseball and served as senior class president. He attended Sunflower Junior College in Moorhead, Miss. on a football scholarship. After college, he moved to Monroeville, where he was an employee of Vanity Fair Mills Inc. for 42 years until his retirement. He and Nancy Sheffield Ivey reared four children in Monroeville, where he was a member of he First United Methodist Church.

Ivey married Edwyna Lane F. Ivey, of Andalusia, in 2004. He was a member of the men’s Baraca class of the First Baptist Church in Andalusia, and a member of the Senior Adult Glory Singers.

Ivey is preceded in death by his mother, Jennie Bradley Warren Ivey; his father, Robert Earl Ivey; sisters, Ercell Ivey Jones, Earlene Ivey Allen and Mable Ivey Moorer; and the mother of his four children, Nancy Sheffield Ivey.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Edwyna Lane Ivey; four children, Sherry (Larry) Ivey Eddins of Enterprise, Dell (Bo)Ivey Moody of Monroeville, William (Cathy) Robert Ivey of Charlotte, N.C. and Ty Sheffield Ivey of Fairhope; one step-son, Winston (Mary Jo) Fletcher of Milton, Fla.; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (L.J.) Sheffield Stewart of Monroeville and Jean (Tom) Lane Frazer of Montgomery; and brother-in-law, Wayne (Rosemary) Lane of Jacksonville, Fla.

Visitation will be held Sun., March 30, at 1 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Andalusia. Grave side services will be in Monroeville between 3:30 and 4 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Lance Eddins, Thomas Strickland, Mike Moorer, David Ingram, Wayne Lane and J.P. Buxton. The First Baptist Men’s Baraca Class will serve has honorary pallbearers.

Memorial donations in memory of Ivey can be made to you charity of choice.
