The drug-related arrests of individuals passing through Covington County, most likely for the spring break holiday, continue this week, according to local law enforcement.
Florala Police Department Sgt. Paul Adams said officer Patrick McCullough arrested three men Monday attempting to pass through the city with marijuana, Adderall and hallucinogenic mushrooms, also known as “shrooms.”
“It was a traffic stop on Sixth Street,” Adams said. “They had about an ounce of marijuana on them, some Adderall pills and about a half-ounce of shrooms.”
Arrested were 19-year-old Xavier Lavine, who was charged with possession of marijuana II, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession a controlled substance (shrooms), as well as 19-year-old Dayquan Trotter and 18-year-old Broderick Bradley, both of whom were charged with possession of marijuana II and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lavine was booked into the Covington County Jail on a $20,500 bond. Trotter and Bradley were each booked on a $2,000 bond.
Adams said shrooms are not a drug typically found in Covington County; however, Monday’s arrest was the second in a week related to the substance.
Both arrests were of individuals from other counties or states.
