Florala’s Amber Johnson made a “tremendous” catch in the bottom of the seventh to help carry a 1-1 tie into extra innings, where the Lady Wildcats defeated Paxton 4-1 last night.
Lily pitched the full game.
Maddox said if the hit that Johnson caught would’ve gotten through, it would’ve turned the game and made it 3-1.
“She made a tremendous catch,” he said.
The Lady Wildcats are back in action on Monday against Red Level.
In other softball action, Andalusia won both its junior varsity and varsity games over Wilcox Central.
The Lady Bulldogs won 15-0 in varsity play, and 16-1 in JV play.
“That’s an area win,” AHS coach Brad Garner said. “We’ve got to win those.”
Opp went up to Selma to play Southside and won two games in a Class 3A, Area 2 softball doubleheader, 17-0 and 21-0.

Pleasant Home fell to Central High School out of Milton, Fla., 12-0 in baseball action.
“We played good for about the first three innings,” Eagles coach Lamar Gibson said. “We didn’t play up to our potential toward the latter half of our game. We’re better than that. I expect we’ll get it back going, and we’re looking forward to next week.”
Pleasant Home’s Lady Eagles didn’t play their game last night because their coach, Bradley Stephens, was ill.
