Two women attacked by three American bulldogs in Opp are now recovering from their injuries just two days after the incident.
Kristina Pickron, 37, and Ceara Schofield, 18, were both hospitalized after the attack Tuesday at Pickron’s home on Hattaway Road. According to information released from Opp Police Department, both women were initially admitted to Mizell Memorial Hospital in Opp, before Schofield was air lifted to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan due to the severity of her injuries.
Thursday, Pickron had been released from the hospital and was updating family and friends of Schofield’s condition via social media.
Schofield was reportedly recovering from surgery Thursday after sustaining puncture wounds to her neck, head, upper body, arms and legs.
The two women were attacked by three bulldogs inside the home after Schofield went into a room to retrieve a Pomeranian dog. Pickron was injured while attempting to ward off the attacking dogs.
According to Opp officials, the dogs were euthanized at a local veterinary clinic and will be tested for rabies.
