A Florala city councilman resigned Wednesday.

City clerk Kathy Rathel confirmed Thursday that Danny Thames has submitted his resignation. Thames won the district 2 seat after defeating former councilwoman Deborah Inabinett in the last municipal election.

Rathel said Mayor Robert Williamson plans to announce the vacancy at the April 11 council meeting. The city has 60 days to appoint someone to the seat.

No reason was given for his resignation.
