Lady Saints end season

LBWCC’s women’s basketball team ended its season Sunday in the ACCC basketball tournament at Wallace State Community College at Hanceville.
The Lady Saints fell to Lawson State 71-61 in the first-round game.
LSCC led only by one point at 25-24 at halftime, and the Lady Saints kept it close in the final 20 minutes, but didn’t prevail in the end.
Lawson State’s Tiarta Smith scored 27 points; Rickeytha Davis had 12 points and nine rebounds; and Kari Jones had 11 to lead LSCC.
LBWCC’s Ashante Stokes led the Lady Saints with 16 points off of the bench. Tori Lowe added 10 points; and Kamiaya Nalls and Keirra Holloway had eight each.
The Lady Saints ended their season 6-18 and their biggest losing streak came at five games twice this season.
For the men’s team, the Saints play on Thursday at 3 p.m. against the winner of Southern Union-Wallace-Selma.
LBWCC garnered the No. 1 seed going into the tournament thus earning a bye in the first round.
