Saints go 2-2 in weekend series

LBWCC finished 2-2 in weekend baseball action.
The Saints lost to Marion Military 11-1 in Sunday’s first game of their doubleheader, but bounced back to win the series closer, 5-0.
On Saturday, LBWCC defeated Andrew College 6-0, and fell 4-0 to Enterprise State.
LBWCC will be back in action today at Northwest Florida State College.
LBWCC 5, Marion Military 0
Cody Marler of Red Level went 2-for-2 to help lead the Saints behind the plate. Trey Matherson and Conner Smith had one hit each. Matherson added two RBIs.
Kade Suther struck out eight batters and allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings of work for the win. Jay Cornelius struck out four in two innings for the save.
LBWCC scored three runs in the first inning and added two in the seventh.
Marion Military 11, LBWCC 1
Blake Grill led the Saints and went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Monterio May and Nick Bender had one hit each.
MMI’s Brady Colburn went 2-for-3 and scored a run.
MMI led 2-0 going in the sixth, where the Saints cut the lead to 2-1.
In the bottom half of the inning, MMI tacked on nine runs to force a mercy-rule win.
Enterprise State 4, LBWCC 0
Chad Peters went 2-for-3 to lead ESCC at the plate. Several other hitters recorded one hit each.
ESCC scored one run each in the second and fifth before added two in the seventh.
Brandon Pugh and Bender led the Saints with two hits each.
LBWCC 6, Andrew College 0
Three Saints hitters recorded two hits apiece in the weekend opener.
Matherson (RBI), Grill (RBI) and Aaron Waltman went 2-for-3 each for the local team.
LBWCC led 2-0 after the fifth and scored four runs in the sixth to pull away.
Houston Mabray allowed no hits and struck out two in four innings to get the win.
